NY's Sick, Sad Political Culture In A Nutshell

This is rich. So it appears that a billionaire fracker is the fourth largest donor to Eric Schneiderman's incumbent campaign for AG. This guy and his company have given $140,000 dollars to him. That, in itself, is an indictment of our completely insane campaign finance laws. No one person should be able to donate $14oK to a single politician. That's just nuts.

But that's not the part that says all too much about our broken political culture here in New York. You see, Eric Schneiderman has been pretty good on fracking issues as AG and before when he was in the state Senate. This billionaire keeps giving him all this money and he still hasn't caved on fracking. And that just doesn't sit well with a spokesman for John Cahill, Schneiderman's Republican opponent.

David Catalfamo, a spokesman for Schneiderman's Republican opponent, criticized the donation.

"It's sad," Catalfamo said. "Eric Schneiderman rakes in huge contributions from his hydrofracking billionaire buddy. He just doesn't think hard working New Yorkers on the Southern Tier should benefit,"

Hey now, he bought him fair and square and he hasn't delivered! What's this world coming to?

And that, friends, is a perfect illustration of what's wrong with New York's broken and thoroughly corrupt political culture.
