NYSUT has launched a $1 million TV ad campaign in advance of next week's state of the state address from Governor Cuomo. The ad, which will air over the next week in Albany and NYC, echoes the message public education advocates have been offering at the recent Moral Mondays vigils at the Capitol.
The ad quotes a New York Times editorial titled "The Central Crisis in New York Education" that reads, "If he is serious about the issue, he'll have to move beyond peripheral concerns and political score-settling … and go to the heart of the matter … that the state had not met its constitutional responsibility to ensure adequate school funding."
The spot ends with, "It's time to move beyond politics, Governor Cuomo. Support our future. Fairly fund our schools."
You can help protect public education in New York by signing our petition to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver demanding that he stand up to the hostile takeover of our public schools by hedge fund billionaires.
